Business Grants and Loans - How Musicians Are Cashing in With Free Government Grant Money Too

!: Business Grants and Loans - How Musicians Are Cashing in With Free Government Grant Money Too

Are you a talented musician who is struggling to get your career up and running? If your gigs aren't paying you well enough, there may be a small business grant that you can apply to promoting your musical endeavors, while turning a profit at the same time.

Just because music is an art, and often considered a hobby, it doesn't mean you cannot create a business situation to enhance your talents. In fact, if you apply the average business strategy to music promotion, there is no reason why you can't make a bundle before you get that lucky break.

All musicians and promoters know that it cost a lot of money just to support your artistic projects. You are looking at expenses such as travel, rehearsal space rental, musical gear and equipment, production costs, recording costs, advertising, and everything else associated with the production and promotion of your art. If you are a crafty and resourceful individual, as most starving artists are, you may be able to easily maneuver yourself a whole lot of free government money if you can assemble a good enough business plan to qualify for free small business grants from the United States government.

When you step outside of the box and look at the big picture, if you are a professional musician, you know that you are already treating this creative goal as a business. All you really need to do is form a detailed outline of how you believe you can strategically turn this talent into a profit generating business, in order to be reviewed by a grant award committee. If you are creative enough to come up with a halfway decent grant proposal, you may be able to receive enough free government money in small business grants to get your creative project boldly into the public eye.

Imagine what you could accomplish if you were able to obtain a few thousand dollars to pay your studio rent, afford recording time and engineers, buy new and updated musical or recording gear, pay for a major advertising campaign, or produce a new CD or video. You may be able to achieve all of this using free government money if you are found to eligible to receive free small business grants from the United States government.

Getting more gigs doesn't just happen. Musicians have to make it happen. Despite a myriad of convenient excuses to choose from - the economy is off, money is tight, unemployment is high, not as many clubs are hiring, budget cuts mean fewer corporate gigs - there are always some musicians who do exceptionally well and work constantly, regardless of the month, year, season, economy or their location.A collection of Bob Popyk's most talked-about columns from International Musician magazine, The Business of Getting More Gigs as a Professional Musician will clue you in to what the musicians mentioned above already know and do. Covering in detail topics such as attitude, gig etiquette, business basics, money and diversifying, Popyk gives practical pointers to help you have a plan, network effectively, promote your assets, and market yourself constantly. He points out the need to treat gig-seeking like a business, and take it just as seriously. Musicians who take his advice will soon be well on their way to more and better-paying gigs. Also available by Bob Popyk:How to Find Gigs That Pay Big Bucks00320370 DVD .95

!1: Best Buy I have read Mr. Popyk's columns in the International Musician as well as The Music Trades magazine. It's nice to see the best ideas for getting more work all together in one book. There are so many things musicians can do to keep their calendar full if we actually treat it like a business. I've been playing casual dates for years and still like to be reminded of things I could be doing to get more gigs. A lot of the chapters have me thinking "I can do that", or "Why didn't I think of that?". Do yourself a favor if you are looking for gigs...read this book! (Unless that is, you have all the work you can handle) on Sale!

Definitive in scope and written specifically for musicians and songwriters by top professionals currently working in the industry, this book demystifies the music business and the indecipherable body of law which shapes it, and provides substantive information on actual practices--with clause-by-clause commentaries on all major contracts in the industry. Requires no background in law or business and is written in plain English, not "legalese. Includes relevant forms. Follows the typical development of a musician's career--Getting Started, Music as a Business; Protecting Your Compositions; Music Publishing; Performing and Marketing; Managers and Agents; and Recording. Features up-to-date internet-related coverage (including full chapters on Digital Distribution of Music Over the Internet: Legal Issues; International Copyright Issues; and Artist Rights). An appendix includes names; URL and mailing addresses of major industry associations and organizations; a list of the important industry publications. For musicians.

!1: Best Buy This book is an absolute must have for musicians. It is a "how-to" manual for musicians. I STRONLY advice never signing any contract or enter into any deal, as a musician, until you have read this book!!!!! It has saved my @$&@ more than once. Whether you are just playing gigs at bars and clubs, recording at home, or trying to go big, this book can be used as a stand alone road map. I have been using the first edition since the early 90's and just decided to purchase the 4th. This version is even better than the first because now it has been updated for the digital age. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT. One browse through its pages and you will quickly realize the gem you hold in you hands. I must sound like a spoke person for the book, but I really believe in its value. on Sale!
